Origami Bouquets for Focus Features & Laika Film

This spring Taro’s Origami Studio was asked by Focus Features and Laika Animation Studios to create a unique origami experience for Mother’s Day. In conjunction with the ad campaign for their feature film “Kubo and the Two Strings” over a three week period, the Taro’s staff hand-folded over 3,000 origami roses and 1,500 origami leaves. They then fashioned everything into a one-of-a-kind bouquet with over 500 combined folds in each one. Here are some photos of the process.

Kubo and the Two Strings will be in theaters August 19th, 2016.

When I got home Monday morning from a weekend away, this beautiful bouquet of origami roses was sitting on my desk! Aren’t they beautiful? Even more impressive is that it contains over 500 folds and took over 3 hours to make! It was a Mother’s Day present from the new movie, “Kubo & the Two Strings” – a new animated movie out August 19 – featuring A kindhearted Kubo on a quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father, the greatest samurai warrior the world has ever know.
