May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month—a time to honor the rich cultural contributions and lasting impact of AAPI communities around the world. At Taro’s Origami Studio, this month holds special meaning. As a proud Asian-owned small business, we’re deeply committed to sharing the beauty, creativity, and cultural significance of origami—one of the most iconic and accessible Asian art forms.
Over the years, we’ve brought the magic of paper folding to hundreds of corporate and community events across the globe—both virtually and in person.

*
Our expertly developed online origami classes, refined over the last decade, now allow us to offer engaging, interactive, and culturally rich experiences to teams, schools, and organizations anywhere in the world.
Whether it’s a one-time celebration or an ongoing enrichment program, our sessions combine art, mindfulness, and history in a format that’s both educational and fun—making them a perfect fit for staff retreats, cultural celebrations, or team-building events.
We’re incredibly grateful to all the companies and individuals who’ve partnered with us this year—and if you haven’t yet, now’s the perfect time to bring a piece of origami magic to your next event. We’d love to fold something amazing with you!
IN PERSON EVENTS
All of our events are tailored to your needs and we always teach to the skill level of the attendees. This way no one needs any prior folding experience. Also, depending on the goals of your event, we can give a quick chat about the history of origami, its Asian heritage, and what it’s been useful for today (engineering, space travel, solar panels, etc). From there we teach 3-4 items depending on the speed of the participants.
*
Question #1 – Can you teach a…..?
YES! If you can think of it, we can fold it, and we can find a version to teach to a group! Taro’s Origami Studio has a team of dedicated origami professionals with years of design and problem-solving experience in the field of paper folding. If it exists in the world, we can re-create it in paper. Often this is just a question of budget and time constraints.
Question #2 – Do we need origami paper?
For in person events, our Senior Origami Teachers will bring authentic Japanese origami paper to your event. We bring a rainbow assortment so there is more than enough for everyone. If you would like, feel free to specify paper colors and we will only bring those to fit the themes of your gathering.
VIRTUAL EVENTS
For online groups over 20 participants we use 2 teachers- one to teach the models and the other to monitor the chat and make sure everyone is able to follow along and finish the models. We have taught all over the world and all over the time zones, so let us know your needs and we can find a teacher that will be able to help.
For all events we can create a unique Zoom link, If you’d like to use a platform other than Zoom or create your own link, feel free to do so. We have experience with all of the major video platforms, just be sure to invite us if you create a new link.
*
Question #1 – Can you do a tech check with us?
We have a ton of experience with these events, but if you’d like to meet on a different day and do a tech check, that is fine but we have an additional charge for our time.
Question #2 – Can we have a recording of the event?
Yes, if you’d like we can record the event and share a link with the entire file. We do have a recording fee of 250$ and we ask that you only share it internally with people that were unable to attend the original event.
Question #3 – Can you ship us origami paper?
Origami paper is wonderful to fold with a a lot thinner than most papers. If you need authentic origami paper sent to participants, we can ship to anywhere in the Lower 48 of the United States for 15$ per address. We also need a lead time of about 2 weeks to ensure everything arrives before an event. Any kind of square paper will work though, including printer paper, so it certainly isn’t required.
If you would like to buy our paper on your own, you can also purchase it at our STORE or on AMAZON.
