Taro’s Origami Classes and Lessons

Taro’s Origami Studio offers a variety of courses open for people of all ages and skill levels!

All courses are designed around our “Kyu” teaching method. Taro’s Origami Studio has taken all the folds needed in origami and categorized them by difficulty so that they are easy to follow and fun to learn. Like martial arts, the Kyu System relies on progression through practice, repetition, and demonstration. By displaying mastery of a specific set of techniques, students will “graduate” to new levels.

If you are new to the studio, take an introduction class first. It lasts for 45 minutes and up to 5 people can join. There is one for kids and another for adults. In these classes, you will be introduced to the Kyu System and its first basic folds. Then you join our private lessons, which last for 1 hour and can include more than 5 people. Private lessons will further explain the folds of the Kyu System as you can continue to develop your folding skills.

  • No prior experience is necessary, but we strongly recommend that students be at least 5 years old to take any course. It is a shared class environment, so it is important that each folder can listen to and follow directions for 45 minutes.
  • We recommend that parents of children under the age of six join the class so that they too can learn the basic folds in order to help their children at home!

Costs for Classes

Each introduction class is 45 minutes and $30 per person.

Each private lesson is 1 hour and $40 per person.
