Taro’s Top Origamist Design Challenge, November 1st

Home/Taro’s Top Origamist Design Challenge, November 1st

On November 1st, Taro’s Origami Studio will be hosting its second origami design challenge and competition at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. The museum has once again generously partnered with us for this exciting event.  We offer 50% off registration discount ($10) for Taro’s members.  The event is both for children and adults even though it is held at the children’s museum.

The event features a fun-filled afternoon planned to introduce and develop paper-folding skills to help nurture creativity in each of us. A theme will be selected on the day of the competition and each one will be walked through each step of the design process — from concept, testing and prototyping, to the final stages.

No experience necessary, just an eager mind. Events designed for all proficiency levels of beginner, intermediate and advanced folders.  To check out our last event on one-minute youtube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw2LMtTeQtM&feature=youtu.be

Design and Presentation Stages

Design Stage

Each participant will be tasked with creating one or more models that represent the selected theme. This will be completed using a basic set of origami concepts that will be explained on the day of the event. Largely through trial and error, participants will come to experience each step of the design process, from the initial concept stages, prototyping, to completion.

Presentation Stage

Towards the end of the event, after participants have finalized their models, they will be asked to cleanly re-create their designs to showcase using clean sheets of paper.
